Are you looking for an AA group that works hard to welcome people of no faith or any faith? That takes recovery seriously but doesn't take itself too seriously? That believes in sharing experience, strength, and hope, but not in giving lectures? That honors all of AA's traditions, especially Tradition Three, which states that the only requirement for AA membership is a desire to stop drinking? Try joining us at An Unsuspected Inner Resource, which meets Saturdays at 8 pm Central Time via Zoom. For connection info, email unsuspectedgroup AT gmail DOT com. (If we ever meet in person, we'll do it in the Twin Cities, in Minnesota.)
The group takes its name from language found in Alcoholics Anonymous ("The Big Book"), Appendix II, Spiritual Experience:
The terms "spiritual experience" and "spiritual awakening" are used many times in this book which, upon careful reading, shows that the personality change sufficient to bring about recovery from alcoholism has manifested itself among us in many different forms. . . .
With few exceptions our members find that they have tapped an unsuspected inner resource which they presently identify with their own conception of a Power greater than themselves.
For more information, check out the draft meeting script. It is a work in progress, and if you want input, join the meeting!
